Jack and the Beanstalk - Primary Production
13th December 2012
Jack and the Beanstalk was production that involved all the children in the primary school. The younger children took a small part by singing a song at the beginning of the play and introducing the show.
There were lots of rehearsals and costumes preparations involved. Nursery and Reception students were wearing costumes of the little 'beans'. (See our sensory activities with beans.)
It was a great achievement for the Nursery children to take part in such a big event. They showed they could concentrate, learn the song and remember the actions, wait for their turn to come up on the stage, handle their costumes carefully, be brave to perform in front of the big audience, listen to the other children perform, follow the story. Well done, Nursery!
Here is their song that they sang to the tune of 'Twinkle, twinkle little star':
Twinkle, twinkle little bean,
How I've wondered were you've been?
Up above you grow so high
To the Giant in the sky
Twinkle, twinkle little bean,
How I've wondered were you've been?

Thank you to all the parents and grandparents who came to watch the play!
I have very few photos of the event as I was very busy looking after the children. If you have some photos of the children wearing their costumes, singing, etc. I would really appreciate your sharing!

Green beans costumes
For the show we had to make our own costumes that looked like green beans. We looked at the real green beans and decided that we could make the necklaces with green beans made out of card. We painted the card into different shades of green first then we cut out the leaf and bean shapes for the crowns and necklaces.
