Penguin Fun
What do you know about penguins?
As part of our Winter Topic the children looked at some polar animals. We looked in more detail at penguins because…who doesn’t like penguins? See the downloadable PPT about penguins below. We walked around the classroom like penguins, then we role played how male emperor penguins huddle close together during long winter months to keep warm and we tried to walk with a pretend penguin’s egg on our feet.

Penguin Collage
Before we made penguin collage we used a special tool for crippling paper for the pengun's belly. Children really enjoyed using it although it wasn't that easy. Then we pasted the black and white pieces to make a penguin. For the beak and legs children coloured the paper in felt tip pen. They finished their pictures by finger painting snow.
Penguin sponge painting
The children also created their own abstract penguin art… They dipped sponges in black and white paint to make the black and white body of their penguins… When the paint was dry they glued on the penguin beak, flippers, and some googly eyes. Every penguin was unique!
