Number Recognition
Number recognition Internet games Term 3, Week 2
This week in Maths the children continued their work on the number ordering and recognition. The children enjoyed playing some interactive maths games and tracing the numbers.
1-10 number line Term 2, Week 2
Nursery children can recite from 1 to 10 with no problem by now, but they often get confused when they are asked to recognise the random numbers on the number line. So number recognition is one of our frequent exercises at the moment. Below is a number matching activity.
Disappearing numbers Term 1, Week 12
This activity combines Maths, Art and KUW, all in one. We started by working on number recognition using the following site:

Then we set off with the art activity aiming to help the children to recognise the numerals 1 to 5. We wrote the numbers on the tissue papers with coloured pens. Then we added drops of water on top and saw them disappear! Magic! So simple and fun.

Once they've finished with the numbers, we let them write and draw and try again. What a discovery! Water can melt the coloured pen's writing!..
Numbers and stickers Term 1, Week 12
Children LOVE stickers! Of course they have preferences in sizes and colours, but if there is an opportunity to use the stickers in class, they jump to it with all their enthusiasm. The activity below was aimed at the number recognition as well as the revision of shapes. The children had to stick the right shaped sticker to the right number. It was also good way to practice their fine motor skills.
Number cards and cubes Term 1, Week 11
By now Nursery children are fairly good at counting up to 5 and some of them - up to 10. They are now ready to do more activities on numeral recognition.
How many cubes do I have? Let's count, 1,2,3. I have 3 cubes and here is number 3 on the flashcard. Now can you put 3 circles on your plate? Count carefully to check and show me the flashcard of number 3.
