On Friday, 10th May Nursery and Reception classes went outside to the little garden to do some planting. As Mr. Matt is quite knowledgeable about gardening and he has all his strength to do some digging, he led this activity for both classes. We replanted our remaining beanstalks and planted more beans. Mr. Matt also showed Nursery students the little shoots of tomatoes and sunflowers that they planted with Reception class. It was a lovely day outside and a great hands on activity for the children. As was promised we put those fantastic pictures that the parents created with their children on the classroom display. The children enjoyed singing the story while looking at those pictures they made with their mums. See more about the whole Bear Hunt project and the photo of the display here. Our trip to Meijiang park went well. The children enjoyed looking at as many signs of spring as they could find. They were excited to see many different colour flowers, bees, butterflies and birds. They were really interested in many insects they saw on the ground. We found a nice place for the children to have their snacks by the lake Most importantly after lots of running around everybody was safe and sound by the end of the trip! See the photos here. This is how tall our beanstalks have grown over the short holiday! Here you can read about our growing beans adventure so far. It was so exciting to see the changes in our planted beans. One tiny shoot has grown and the roots are getting longer on all of the others in the soil. The children could see them though the clear plastic cup. They carefuly looked at their cups with the beans and soil and watered their beans. We wonder how many shoots will we see after the holiday?
After our busy morning with parents on Book Week Friday the children had their regular Maths lesson. They continued working on adding some numbers up to 5 and 10 using the interactive Maths games from the following site: http://www.iboard.co.uk/teacher/trisnursery(Click on the Maths folder and select the games called 'Snowman Addition' 'Release the Submarine' and 'Addition Stories')
Then they used the interlocking cubes to help them implement the addition sums and write the answers. Thank you to all the parents and grandparents for coming in to school on our final day of Book Week. It was lovely to see the children dressed up as book characters and congratulations to our muscular Super Man, Luis for winning in the fancy dress competition! I hope you enjoyed your time doing some art and craft activities related to our class story with your child. It was certainly a very special day for the children! All your beautiful work will be displayed in the classroom so come by to have a look after the holiday! See the photos here. On Thursday Ms. Hackett was busy with the secondary school Sports Day, so she was not able to do the Swimming lesson with Nursery and Reception students. So instead I decided to jump into the pool with the kids. They were really surprised to see me there and challenged my swimming abilities! It seemed they had fun in the pool and certainly did I! More photos to come. |
