Thank you to all the parents who took part in the UN Day celebrations, either by coming in, cooking or just sending the children to school dressed up in their national costumes. It was a great day! Read more here... The 3 year old children are only developing their sense of space awareness and often get confused when talking about location of objects. Read more here... The highlight of our Healthy Eating project was our trip to E-Mart supermarket and making fruit salad afterwards. Read more here... On Wednesday 24th October we will celebrate UN Day! It is a day when we think about diversity of countries we come from and peace between the nations. There will be lots of different activities planned for the whole school. All students, parents and teachers are invited to wear their traditional national clothes. Please see the school newsletter for the details. ...but it is so frustrating when the internet is so very S L O W!!! Recently it has been a many hours job to update the website, especially load the photos... I don't really understand the physics of the cyber world but I noticed the internet seems to slow down when the weather is not great. So is it a recent chill in the weather? Maybe rain? Whatever it is, I just couldn't upload Week 5 photos by Wednesday as I promised. I decided I would at least post the news, so that we are not too far behind... I will keep trying to upload the photos later during the week! In PE the children develop their gross motor skills by playing lots of games. Last week among the other games they had fun trying to ‘steal’ a cone from the sleeping ‘dinosaur’ (Mr. Connolly) and to run away before being caught. They went inside because of the rain and practiced their gymnast walk with their back straight and head up. In Chinese Ms. Tessa continued teaching colours, this time using the balloons which made the children overwhelmed with joy! They also listened to a Chinese story helping them to revise the names of feelings that we looked at during the Literacy lessons before. We learned the names of fruits this week and how important it is to eat them every day. This was followed by looking at one fruit which is so familiar to everyone – apples! We tasted apples of 3 colours and made a graph showing which colour apples we liked the most. We also estimated the number of seeds in the apples during Maths and checked by counting. All the children liked tasting the apples and by the end of the week when I took out one more apple, they asked me, “Is it apple time?” That made me think, perhaps we could have Fruit Time sometime during the week to make sure the children get used to eating them regularly? |
