Thank you to all the parents and grandparents who came to support their children at our annual primary school Sports Day. It was quite chilly outside but the children were running around a lot and seemed to enjoy themselves. Nursery students were really excited to take part in all the sport activities but the running race was the most memorable. They were so proud to receive their badges at the end! This day will certainly be remembered for a long time. See more photos here.

After finishing their letter N and a bird nest water colour painting, the children wanted to paint more, so they had a go at painting some spring flowers. Here is their unique work. Don't you just love Nursery kids' paintings?
This week in Maths the children continued their work on the number recognition and ordering. The children enjoyed playing some interactive maths games and tracing the numbers. See more photos here. For the sound /N n/ we looked at the following words: nose, neck, necklace, numbers, night and nest. We found it in Jenny's and Won Jong's names. The children painted the outline of the capital letter N in water colour first. Then they painted the body of a bird and the three eggs. When the paint was dry they cut out the bird's body parts, the eggs and arranged them on a letter N with a lovely nest. See the photos here. On Wednesday, 17 April the primary and lower secondary school were lucky to watch a dance performance by the Canadian native hoop dancer Teddy Andersen. It was a beautiful and interactive show. The audience went "Wow!" when Teddy danced with 30 hoops at once! The dancer also invited some volunteers, both students and teachers, and gave them a little lesson on a hoop dance. Not surprisingly ALL the Nursery students went to take part in the dance! And although the dance moves were a bit sophisticated for them, they still enjoyed it and certainly had lots of fun. See the photos and some videos here. In Maths this week the students started learning and ordering the names of the days of the week. They enjoyed singing the songs and watching the videos that they can look at and practice more at home too. As part of our Plant Project the children looked at the stages of growing a beanstalk. Each child put three broad beans into a plastic bag with some dampened cotton wool to germinate. We attached the bags to the window to make sure the beans have plenty of sunshine and warmth.
I am delighted to say that the children are now mature enough to have a weekly Library session. Our Library time is on Mondays and today it was great to see how quickly the children settled down with the books of their choice and got busy 'reading'!
Please note that the children borrow one library book at a time for a week and should return it next Monday. Hope you will have the time to share the book of your child's choice and enjoy reading it together! Last weekend there were two birthday celebrations, for Bobby and Luis. On Monday we had a lovely cake baked by Luis's mum and some yummy candies from Bobby's parents for the children's snack time. The kids were delighted to have such a speacial treat! Happy birthday again to Luis and Bobby!
